Navakerala Local Government – 2022 Kannur District Level Review Meeting interacted with local body representatives. The aim of local governments is not to rule the people but to serve them in the way they want. Local governments should be able to provide services according to the wishes of the people. Service is not a charity. People’s representatives and officials are servants of the people. All systems should be changed to this method. No file that comes as part of the local government should be returned. There should be an awareness that the responsibility for completing the application lies not with the applicant but with the officer in charge.
Local bodies should give priority to issues such as housing for the poor, employment for young people including educated women, entrepreneurship promotion, and making a clean Kerala a reality. Local bodies should take the initiative to organize land from well-intentioned people through the Manasotithiri Mandi Campaign to build houses for the landless and homeless.
The meeting held at the District Panchayat Conference Hall discussed matters related to accelerating and effectively implementing various projects of the Local Self-Government Department. Peringom native KV Madhavan handed over the permission letter for providing 30 cents of land in connection with the Life Mission’s Manasotithiri Manu campaign. The report of the extreme poverty survey conducted in the district was also handed over at the event.
