A committee has been formed to organise the first Saras Mela in Kozhikode under the leadership of Kudumbasree. The festival will be held at Kozhikode beach in April-end. The formation meeting of the organizing committee was inaugurated by Minister for Public Works and Tourism Adv. P.A. Mohammed Riyas at Nalanda Auditorium in Kozhikode on February 24. A 201-member executive committee and a 2001-member organizing committee were formed.
More than 250 product marketing stalls will be set up to showcase the wide variety of products produced by rural entrepreneurs from different states of India. A variety of cultural programmes, cultural programmes and competitions will be held on all days.
Grama panchayat president P. Praveen Kumar presided over the function. Corporation Deputy Mayor C. P. Muzaffar Ahmed and Kudumbasree Governing Body Executive Member and former MLA K.K. District Collector P.K. Kavitha also spoke. Kudumbasree Executive Director H. Dineshan welcomed the gathering. Bindu Jaison, chairperson, DSS, delivered the vote of thanks.
