The organizing committee of the first-ever National Saras Mela organized by Kudumbashree in Kozhikode district has been formed. The fair will be organized at the end of April at the Kozhikode beach. The formation meeting of the organizing committee was inaugurated by Public Works and Tourism Minister Adv. P.A. Muhammed Riyaz on February 24 at the Nalanda Auditorium in Kozhikode. A 201-member executive committee and a 2001-member organizing committee have been formed.
More than 250 product marketing stalls will be set up in connection with the fair, offering a wide range of products produced by rural entrepreneurs from various states of India. There will also be a food court serving a variety of delicacies from other states, art programs with the participation of eminent people in the field of art and culture, and seminars on various topics every day.
Grama Panchayat Association President P.G. George Master presided over the meeting to form the organizing committee. Corporation Deputy Mayor C.P. Muzaffar Ahmed, Kudumbashree Governing Body Executive Member and former MLA K. K. Latika and District Mission Coordinator P.C. Kavitha spoke. Kudumbashree Executive Director H. Dinesan IAS welcomed the gathering and Bindu Jayson, Chairperson of Azhiyur CDS, expressed his gratitude.
