Kottayam has achieved a historic achievement: All 71 Gram Panchayats in Kottayam district have been declared as People-Friendly Good Governance Offices by the Hon. Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, Shri. P. Sriramakrishnan, at a meeting held at the Gourishankaram Auditorium, Kaduthuruthy on October 26, 2017. The Panchayat Deputy Director’s Office, along with the Grama Panchayat representatives and employees of the district, has taken up the task of converting all 71 Gram Panchayats in the district into People-Friendly Good Governance Offices. The district was able to achieve the goal of people-friendly good governance by making people aware of their rights and delivering the services they need to the right people in an orderly manner without referrals, by increasing the physical facilities of the offices, further improving the front office operations, by changing the attitude of the employees towards the public, and by bringing the perspective of the employees and people’s representatives to the realization that there is a life in each file.
