Formed under the aegis of the Local Self Government Department, Government of Kerala, Clean Kerala Company Limited (CKCL) provides forward linkages to local governments for the processing and disposal of solid waste. CKCL collaborates in various capacities with Local Governments, Haritha Karma Sena, LSGD, Suchitwa Mission, KSWMP, the general public, private partners, etc. in this process.

The main functions of CKCL include:

Segregated Plastic Collection

CKCL is currently associated with 667 Rural LSGs and 47 Urban LSGs. 24,292 MT of Segregated Plastic have been collected so far from the non-biodegradable waste generated.

Shredded Plastic Production

Shredded plastic produced by local governments, given to CKCL can be used in polymerised road construction.

Collection of Rejects

RDF is sent to cement factories with whom the company has tie up.

E-Waste Management

CKCL collects the e-waste and hands it over to the e-waste recycling companies with the approval of Central and State Pollution Control Boards. So far, 2,265 MT of E-Waste has been collected.

E-Hazardous Waste Management

CKCL entered into an agreement with Kerala Enviro Infrastructure Limited, Ambalamukal, Kochi for the safe disposal of hazardous e-waste like tube lights, CFL, batteries etc on 31st October 2018. 161 MT of Hazardous E-Waste has been collected so far.

Glass Waste Collection

3792 MT of Glass Waste has been collected so far. Presently, it is being collected by the scrap dealers and sent outside the State. The processing of glass waste is proving to be a challenge.
