Among its notable e-governance initiatives, the State is attempting to bring door-to-door collection and management of non-bio waste into a digital platform through the Haritha Mithram app, operated by the Haritha Karma Sena, and which citizens can also access to enquire about services, or register complaints. As of date, nearly 900 of the 1034 Gram panchayats and ULBs have started using the app, and nearly 60% of households and institutions have onboarded the app, making it possible to ensure that microview of waste management on the ground and effective supervision are possible real-time.

The Haritha mithram app has also been pressed into service to capture storage and movement details in the material collection facilities and Resource recovery facilities, thereby enabling the system to institutionalise lifting and transportation of waste against pre determined calendars as well as to take action whenever there is a surge in waste generation, or a disruption in waste movement.

Two more apps – one to follow waste movement within the State through GPS based tracking and the other to capture and process information arising out of CCTVs in strategic locations where illegal dumping of waste has been observed are in the making.
