The National Health Mission (NHM) is a major initiative by the Government of India to address healthcare challenges and improve the overall health outcomes of the population. Launched in 2013, it represents the integration of two major health programs, the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM). The NHM focuses on both rural and urban areas to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services.  The mission focuses on reducing maternal and child mortality rates through improved maternal and child health services, immunization, and nutrition programs, and prevention and control of communicable diseases, such as malaria, tuberculosis, and vector-borne diseases. The mission also addresses the rising burden of non-communicable diseases by promoting awareness, early detection, and management of conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
