The Green Kerala Ride is being organized by the Local Self-Government Department with the objective of reducing the abnormally increasing levels of carbon emissions in nature. The program is aimed at officials and elected representatives of local self-governing institutions all over the State.
On June 5, 2025, participants are encouraged to:
- Use public transportation as much as possible to commute to their offices.
- Those who usually travel alone in private vehicles should practice vehicle pooling with colleagues.
- Promote community pooling by sharing a vehicle from railway stations or bus stands to the office.
- Encourage the use of bicycles and electric vehicles.
- Reduce the excessive use of air conditioning and electronic devices.
The department has proposed a wide range of activities in support of these goals. As part of the initiative, individuals, groups, and institutions who demonstrate the best models of sustainable practices will be specially recognized and awarded. Participants must post a photo illustrating their sustainable practice on the same day on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #GreenKeralaRide2025. Let’s put an end to the exploitation of nature together.
