Steering Committee (KPR Act sec.162 B)
- President, vice president, chairpersons of standing committees
Standing committees (KPR Act sec.162 (1))
- Four standing committees- Finance, Development, Welfare, Education and Health in grama panchayat and block panchayats (KPR Act sec 162(1) (A) (B). In addition to the above there is one more in district panchayats i.e, public works standing committee (sec.162(1) (c) )
- Eight Standing Committees in Corporations and Six Standing Committees in Municipalities. KM Act Sec 20(B)
Grama Sabhas (KPR Act sec.3(2))
- A Public platform of all the citizens with voting rights
- The elected representative of the ward is the convenor of the grama sabha.
- Grama sabha should be convened at least once in every three months.
- Quorum is the ten percent of the total number of voters in the ward
- The Gramasabhas has the right to discuss budget, audit report, project documents, estimates of public works, etc.
- Ward Sabhas in each ward in Municipalities where the population is below one lakh. should convene at least once in every three months
Ward Sabha (KM Act sec.42 A)
- People's meetings with all the voters of the ward as members. Convenor is the ward councilor. These sabhas should convene once in every three months
Ward committees in Municipalities (KM Act sec.42)
- There are ward committees instead of ward sabhas in every Municipality/Corporation with more than one lakh population. The chairperson of the ward committees will be the elected representative from the ward.
- Representatives of registered organisations, neighbourhood collectives, political parties, educational institutions, labour organisations, and nominated members and members from stakeholder communities can attend.
