Life Mission
LIFE (Livelihood Inclusion and Financial Empowerment) represents an ambitious undertaking of the Local Self Government Department (LSGD) of the State, specifically designed to comprehensively address the housing needs of the poor. Our concerted efforts, as an integral part of both local and state governments, along with the convergence of central resources, have culminated in the successful construction of 365531 houses, as of mid-December 2023. Through the ‘Manassodithiri Mannu’ campaign, LIFE Mission has been able to solicit voluntary contribution of an extent of 2834.65 cents of land as of November 2023. Notably, the project also attends to houses that had to be abandoned midway through earlier schemes. Our unwavering focus on constructing prefabricated apartment complexes and involving citizens in the ‘manassodithiri mannu’ project underscores our commitment to delivering comprehensive housing solutions.
LIFE is an ambitious project of the State Government to address the housing needs of the poor comprehensively. This is a combined effort of local and state governments, converging central resources as well. A full list of people with land who need houses, landless families without houses has been taken, and 355216 Houses have been built under the aegis of the scheme (construction of 125086 houses is ongoing). The scheme addressed houses whose constructions had to be abandoned halfway through in earlier schemes as well. It has also looked at building prefabricated apartment complexes, and roping in people’s contribution of land through the ‘manassodithiri mannu’ project.
