KILA is a pioneering institution of capacity building for local governance, with an unrelenting focus on reinforcing and augmenting the capacity of elected representatives, officers and other community-based stakeholders both individually and collectively to function as trailblazers in resolving local issues and forging new pathways. From imparting the framework on which the edifice of local governance stands in Kerala to contextualising new paradigms and sharing best practices, KILA extends its support not only through training but also in designing various programs and policies. KILA has actively contributed to initiatives like ISO certification, Localisation of SDGs, Aged-Friendly Local Governments, Palliative Care, Local Action Plan on Climate Change, Disaster and Climate Action Tracking (DCAT) Tool, and more. Its wide and deep-ranging experience has made it a sought-after resource organisation nationally on many topics pertaining to local governance. An International Centre for Excellence is coming up in Kannur on Public Policy and Governance.
