IMPACT KERALA is a Special Purpose Vehicle for KIIFB Projects in LSGs sanctioned vide GO (Rt) No. 3234/2017/LSGD dt 06/10/2017. The Company is registered with an initial authorised capital of Rs 1 Crore and paid-up capital of Rs 10 Lakhs.

Objectives
  • To implement projects, strategies, schemes, systems and procedures for improving the living standards of residents throughout the State of Kerala, focusing on development initiatives without compromising on health and environmental issues.
  • To develop schemes and projects to be pursued by the Company or by local bodies in the State of Kerala.
  • To act as an agency to source and expend funds for developmental activities throughout the State of Kerala on behalf of local bodies or other public agencies.

IMPACT Kerala Limited is an implementing agency for Sewage Treatment plants (STPs), Feacal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs), Modern Abattoirs, Modern Markets, Modern Gas Crematoriums and Municipal office building projects funded by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) and Rebuild Kerala Initiative (RKI). 

The DPRs prepared by the LBs are submitted to IKL for verification and onward submission to the funding agency. Once Administrative Sanction is obtained from the funding agency, IKL initiates the Technical Sanction and Tendering processes. IKL is tendering the LWM projects on Design-Built-Operate (DBO) model with open technology. The contractor has the freedom to choose the treatment technology, but has to get the design and drawings vetted from IIT/NIT/government engineering colleges etc. The technical and financial capabilities of the bidders are evaluated and agreement entered with the selected contractor. The contractor has to establish the treatment plant and operate it for 10 years before handing over to the LB. IKL will handhold the LBs from DPR preparation stage upto handing over the asset after 10 years Operation and Maintenance (O&M).

A brief on the ongoing LWM projects of IKL are given below:

  1.  250 KLD FSTP at Cherthala Municipality: using Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) technology. The sludge will be treated and converted to manure.
  2. 1.5 MLD STP with associated sewerage network at Ottappalam Municipality: Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) technology.

STPs at Mayyanad Grama Panchayath Tsunami flats -SBR technology.

  1.  50 KLD FSTP at Varkala Municipality: Anaerobic Baffle Reactor (ABR) for anaerobic treatment & MBBR technology for aerobic treatment.
